Part 1: the visions
We want to just record a raw outflow here. I don't know where we'll put it, but just go for it. You're talking about the design for Seeds Renaissance in the project Seeds Renaissance folder. Just tell me what you're excited about.
I was really excited when we talked way back with Ariel about a website that was really a bit cool and minimal, with a bit of animation. I imagined people arrive, and I'd like something kind of either full dark or full white, and then text emerges that says, "Our quote for the one's heart who longs for blah blah blah." You scroll, and then there's a symbol of a seed that kind of spins a bit on itself and starts to bloom. It says the quote I pulled out from the manifesto explaining what it is about, and each word of "Wisdom Interbeing" is a different tree that blooms. It's a little bit animated and stuff, and that's what I like.
After that, you scroll and enter into maybe more, I don't know, and then course would be like a book that you open. You open the book, and then there are these different courses, almost like these books with things that pop up out of the pages. Maybe not like a book where you open it and then you see the image of that course and the image of this course, and it says the Zen monastery thing, the lay monastic thing. I would really want to have fun, and I would not give a shit about how people navigate it. You sort yourself out.
You open a book, like courses, and there are those different things that appear. Actually, I would see it maybe quite black and white because it's a lot of animation. If I'm going with a lot of animation, I'm not sure I would also add colours on the website, the general website. I feel you want to create these experiences. Maybe right now, even forgetting the website as a whole, you want to create individual experiences for particular areas.
It's like, "Oh, you have this course, and it's really cool," and the meetup. I don't know if you saw my thing. I found this picture that I think is really good, and it was from a Magnum photographer. I just removed it, and I almost have it animated with that symbol where gradually little people walk to it. For this one, I'd love to have this picture animated where it's like people gradually walking into it. I know what you mean, like walking through a darkness into the possibility. I'd have this animated, almost like there is nothing. You see it being ripped, like you see people walking into that dark future, and then you see it as they walk in, you see it ripped, and it's a leap of faith.
I have fun and things like that. No, I mean, it might be quite demanding. Don't worry about money. Keep going. That would be for the movement building, and then it would be "Come join our call," ripped, and then "Enjoy." I don't know, things like that.
The temple of the sacred world, I don't know. Again, there would be a kind of quite poetic animation, something like that. It has almost like a building, like a temple, but maybe less. I don't know, but it shows a kind of almost like a church. I always feel that the temple is actually in nature. I feel it's a natural temple, but almost it might have, "Oh, it's a church that decays," and then the trees and the birds that grow. The temple is still in the same place, but there are just stones left, and then you go in there and have those big fonts, like "Listening to birds" or "Prayer for the perpetrator." You can listen to that, and it has those different things. I feel like all of that could go, and in the magazine it'd be like, "Yeah, I don't know, and make it fun." Yes, and I wouldn't care so much about how people find things, like the usability, basically. I wouldn't care about the subscribe button. Yes, yeah, I got that, so you complete now your outflow.
Part 2: framing
We want to take this first of all. What this is in the context of is creating. I'm not sure it's even the website of Seeds Renaissance, though. It's part of the website, but particular experiences on the website. You might get more and more of the website. I don't know at the moment whether this merges. I think it could become confusing if we merge it with the SOR website project because that's more a conventional design procedure.
I wonder here whether we actually create a new project just for creating these experiences. Maybe you can give me your quick advice on that without reading too much. I don't want to keep you. Keep yourself relatively focused. I think what you're hearing here is kind of an outflow about visions of particular experiences to convey the seeds of Renaissance, but for us to have real fun: to convey that and not worry too much about functionality or usability at this point, but to convey the energy and our own joy of that.
Follow-up clarifications (same day)
- Don't get caught up on licensing: small nonprofit experimenting, fair use. Roll with what we want.
- Black and white was background context only. There will be a lot of colour in the animations.
