Courses: the Book — brief (draft)

Part 4 of the home page; can also stand alone (e.g. on a courses/learning page). Sources: first outflow, book detail.

Feeling

Weight, age, treasure. Hard-won knowledge from decades of journey, offered up. Magical rather than informational. First focus: the book itself, its beauty and its arrival.

Reference

moodboard/kiefer-lead-book-open.webp: an Anselm Kiefer lead book, open, heavy rippled pages, oxidised patina (rust red, verdigris blue, pale yellow) on black. Open: animate the photo itself, or recreate? Animating the photo (fair use) may be easier; recreating in motion graphics / 3D gives more control (closed → open). It need not match exactly.

Script

Scroll-driven (assumed, consistent with other frames).

BeatWhat you seeText
1. The fallBlack space. The book drops in heavily from the top and lands. Ideal: it lands closed, then heaves itself open. Fallback: it lands already open.
2. IlluminationGolden, illuminated-manuscript letters begin to glow on the open pages.
3. RisingThe letters lift off the pages, float up and assemble in the black space above the book into a few words. They stay there.Courses · Papers (3–6 items max; categories, not individual titles; final list to confirm)
4. CaptionBelow the book.Sharing what we have learned on our journey over the past decades.

No page turning. Writing onto the pages directly would look fake, hence the letters rise into clean space.

Later / parked

  • Pop-up scenes rising out of the lead (e.g. the Zen monastery), possibly as a background layer or appearing after this frame.
  • Podcast as an item.

Craft notes

  • Book: 3D or high-end motion graphics. Lead texture, weight on landing (settle, slight bounce, dust?).
  • Gold lettering: illuminated-manuscript feel, glowing; readable once assembled.
  • Assembled words are the links (to courses, to papers).

Open questions

  • Final items above the book: "Courses" and "Papers" only, or more?
  • Do the words link out, and where?
